Preparing for an indoor lifestyle session

can be a bit more daunting than an outdoor session. Mother Nature has certainly mastered the craft of creating a beautiful backdrop and perfect light. However, indoor sessions can be especially intimate, personal and authentic to you and your loved one(s). Here are a few ways to set yourself (and your photographer - wink, wink) up for success if you've chosen to book your session inside.

1 NATURAL LIGHT IS YOUR FRIEND.

Choose the most well-lit room in the house to base your session around. Open all curtains, book during hours when the sun is out, and don't be afraid to move things around to create your "perfect space." If you don't have a perfect space, that's okay too. Some of my FAVOURITE indoor sessions have been a couple standing in front of a window. Simplicity is beautiful, folks. Never forget that.

2 ALL YOU NEED IS ONE WALL/CORNER

In my office/studio, one half of the room is filled with a desk, shelving units, camera bags, and pretty much organized chaos. However, I keep one corner perfectly tidy - a blank wall near the window, an accent chair and some greenery. This is literally ALL you need for an indoor lifestyle session. Don't worry about having a perfectly Pinterest worthy living space. If this isn't your situation, we can still make it work.

3 HIDE BACKGROUND NOISE

Like I said, all you need is one well-lit corner/wall, however, it must be clean and minimalistic. Any extra clutter will take away from your photos. Make sure you have one clean tidy space in the home - even if all around us is chaos!
