Picture your ideal summer evening.

For Rayne & Gaige, this is an evening on the boat: a warm breeze, floating on the lake, a beautiful sunset behind them. So that's exactly what we did for their engagement session. I often stress to my clients that it's better to plan an activity for your session than it is to just stand at a beautiful location taking pictures. Doing something you love together creates a more authentic memory. It also takes away a lot of the stress that comes with being in front of a camera (it's no secret, we all get nervous!).

As per usual this month, we woke up and spent most of the day watching the radar hoping a storm would pass through by the evening - thankfully it did. After dinner, Rayne, Gaige & I met at the boat launch. They prepared the boat, we hopped in and drove out to the middle of the lake. We spent the evening laughing, and the two could enjoy each other's company rather than just waiting for the next prompt. We drove back in as the sun went down (at this point, I felt thankful for the storm as it gave us the most epic sunset of the summer).
